How Belarusians Can Avoid Being Labeled As "deadbeats" When Dismissed

One day can make all the difference.

In Belarus, a person is not immediately recognized as a "deadbeat" after dismissal. The amount of time he will have to find a job, so as not to be included in the "dependents," depends on the date and reason for leaving the previous job, explained the lawyer Viktoria Romanchikova. Her answer is given in telegram channel of the Justice Department of Homel Regional Executive Committee. Spoiler: there is a significant difference when to lose your job - for example, March 31 or April 1. It's a situation when one day matters.

If to simplify it at all, for employment, in order not to get into the "deadbeats," the terms are calculated in quarters: one takes the one in which a person lost his job, and the whole next one. Because of this, the period for finding a new place can vary significantly in different situations - from three to six months.

For example, if an employee was fired on March 30 (the end of the first quarter), then in fact he will have about three months to find a new place - until the end of June (the entire second quarter). And if the dismissal was on April 1 (the very beginning of the second quarter), then the person who lost his job has almost six months - because he actually has the entire second quarter and the entire third quarter.

But in some situations there is a benefit - a fixed six months from the date of dismissal. This applies, for example, to downsizing, termination of contract, dismissal for health reasons, incompatibility with the position for medical reasons.

Those who fall into the base of "deadbeats", at full rates pay for heating, hot water and gas.
