Pentagon Chief: Any Deal With Iran Will Be Beneficial

Hegseth's comments came after an important meeting at Trump's office.
U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said any agreement with Iran would be a good deal at this point.
This is reported by CNN.
Hegseth said U.S. President Donald Trump is being patient to make sure that any peace agreement with Iran ensures that the country does not acquire nuclear weapons.
"I had a chance to talk to President Trump this morning. He wanted me to emphasize again how patient he is in making sure that any deal that America makes in this historic endeavor is a good deal, even a great deal, and he is patient in that effort," he said at an international forum in Singapore.
The Pentagon chief added that if Iran was unwilling to make a favorable agreement that would guarantee that the country would not have nuclear weapons, then Tehran could then "compete" with the U.S. Army.
Later, when a reporter asked Hegseth about his words that "any deal would be favorable," the latter replied:
"I like disingenuous questions from a disingenuous press. I said it would be a good deal," said the US Secretary of War.
He also noted that if ordered to do so, US troops are ready to resume combat operations. According to him, the stockpile of weapons for this task is sufficient.
It is worth adding that Hegseth's comment came after Trump held a meeting with advisers in the White House Situation Room less than 12 hours ago. CNN sources say it was at that meeting that the president was expected to make a "final decision" on whether or not to make a deal with Iran.
