Zelensky Responded Sharply To Russia's Idea Of A Ceasefire

  • 5.05.2026, 11:17

This night, the occupants struck mainly Ukrainian energy facilities.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky reacted to Russia's overnight drone and missile attack in various regions of Ukraine.

"It is absolute cynicism to ask for silence for propaganda celebrations and to launch such missile and drone strikes all the days before. Every day Russia can have a cease fire and it will stop the war and our responses. Peace is needed and real steps are needed to make it happen. Ukraine will act mirror-like," Zelensky emphasized.

The Ukrainian head of state noted that Russian invaders attacked the energy infrastructure in Poltava region at night.

He also noted that the Russians shelled Kharkiv region as well. In particular, four people were injured. Unfortunately, one person was killed.

"In Dnipropetrovsk region, critical infrastructure was attacked. Three people are injured in the region. Power lines were damaged in Pavlograd, leaving thousands of families without light. There were also strikes in Zaporizhzhya and Kiev region, where three people were wounded. In general, Russia's main targets this night were the objects of our energy infrastructure," Zelensky said.

As Charter97.org wrote, Russia announced a unilateral ceasefire with Ukraine for May 8-9.
