OPEC Oil Production Fell To A 36-year Low In April

  • 6.05.2026, 19:28

This is due to disruptions in oil supplies due to conflict in the Middle East.

In April, oil production by OPEC countries amounted to 20.55 million barrels per day. The indicator became the minimum since 1990, follows from the survey Bloomberg. This is due to disruptions in oil supplies due to the conflict in the Middle East, the agency writes.

Oil production fell the most in Kuwait - the figure fell by 470 thousand barrels per day, to 800 thousand bpd. This is less than a third of the volumes produced before the Middle East conflict. At the same time, oil exports in Kuwait decreased only by 22 thousand bpd, Bloomberg writes.

The Bloomberg poll was conducted before the UAE's withdrawal from OPEC and OPEC+. The country announced the decision on May 1. It was the third largest oil producer in the organization after Saudi Arabia and Iraq. UAE Energy Minister Suheil al-Mazroui explained that the decision was influenced, among other things, by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which limits export flows from the Persian Gulf.
