On Friday, May 8, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky confirmed the strike on an oil refinery in Russia's Yaroslavl.

"Yaroslavl, more than 700 kilometers from Ukraine's state border. An oil facility that was of great importance for financing the Russian war," the Ukrainian head of state said in a Telegram message.

Zelensky thanked the AFU and military intelligence for such a show of justice.

"Ukrainian long-range sanctions continued in response to Russian strikes on our cities and villages. Russia must choose real peace, and only strong pressure will ensure this," he emphasized.
