What is known
"Kyiv region: in the Exclusion Zone continues to eliminate a large-scale forest fire. Due to strong wind gusts, the fire is rapidly spreading across the territory, covering new quarters of the forest area. The approximate area of the fire is already more than 1,100 hectares," the report says.
The situation is complicated by dry weather, strong wind and mine danger in some parts of the territory, the State Emergency Service said.
This significantly limits the possibility of extinguishing work - in particular, in part of the forest blocks work is temporarily not carried out due to the threat of explosive objects.
To eliminate the fire involved units of the State Emergency Service, special equipment and forces of other services. Rescuers are working in reinforced mode, localizing the fire and preventing further spread of the fire.
The press service of the Chernobyl Reserve reported that the radiation background in the area of the fire remains within normal limits - from 0.19 to 0.35 μSv/hour.
