The ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia from May 9 to 11 inclusive, which US President Donald Trump has proposed, could last longer than three days.

This scenario is not ruled out by Trump himself, as he announced in response to a reporter's question.

"Maybe. That would be a good thing. I would like it to stop. Russia and Ukraine are the worst thing that's happened since World War II in terms of loss of life," Trump said.

He also noted that 25,000 fighters are allegedly dying in the Russia-Ukraine war every month.

"25,000 young soldiers every month. That's insane. So it could very well be," Trump emphasized.
