France Records Record Popularity Of Electric Cars

Electric cars took 27.8% of the market.

The share of electric cars among all vehicles sold in France in May reached a record 34%. This follows from the report of the French Automobile Association (PFA).

According to experts of the analytical center AAA-Data, high fuel prices have significantly boosted sales of electric cars: from January to May, electric cars occupied 27.8% of the market, second only to hybrids (50.9%), but significantly ahead of gasoline (14.9%) and diesel (2.6%) cars.

In May, the most popular electric car was Tesla Model Y. It was followed by the Renault 5 E-Tech and Renault Scenic. In the overall ranking of all car types, the Tesla Model Y ranks fourth in sales.
