Ukraine To Receive Liquefied Natural Gas Via Lithuania

LNG can come from both U.S. producers and Middle Eastern countries.

At intergovernmental consultations in Vilnius on June 1, the governments of Lithuania and Ukraine agreed on long-term supplies of liquefied natural gas through an LNG terminal in the port of the Lithuanian city of Klaipeda on the Baltic Sea, Polskie Radio reported.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko said that the LNG supplied by the Lithuanian LNG terminal will help strengthen this supply channel. Our agreements will allow us to strengthen this supply channel."

The Lithuanian and Ukrainian governments also agreed to strengthen defense cooperation during consultations. Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginenė assured that her country will continue to support the development of Ukraine's defense capabilities. She also said: "The experience that Ukraine has gained in ensuring civil security, maintaining the functioning of state institutions under war conditions, protecting critical infrastructure and ensuring its operation is invaluable".
