The State Department provided further details.
Ukraine has managed to secure additional air defense systems and missiles from a number of partners.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing a statement by Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Georgiy Tykhyi at a briefing.
“Every round of negotiations with partners begins, first, with advancing the decisions reached by the president, and second, with securing the necessary resources and finding the necessary solutions,” Tikhiy said.
He explained that during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the UK, a number of new decisions regarding air defense were reached during negotiations with allies. And now it is necessary to implement these decisions as soon as possible.
According to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Ukraine has managed to secure a number of additional assets—including both systems and interceptors—thanks to cooperation with several countries.
He clarified that financial resources are needed for these additional assets, and Ukraine is actively working to secure them.
“Once we finalize this, we hope there will be an opportunity to quickly deploy these assets—both systems and interceptors,” Tikhiy added.
In addition, Ukraine has managed to secure a number of interceptor missiles that will expire in the near future.
“We are currently engaged in active negotiations to obtain them. Once their shelf life expires, they will be returned to the manufacturer or disposed of, and we are proposing to transfer them to Ukraine,” the spokesperson explained.
