Berlin and Warsaw are strengthening their defense partnership.

On June 17, the Federal Republic of Germany and Poland will sign a cooperation agreement that provides for deeper military cooperation, the development of defense capabilities, and coordinated action in response to hybrid threats. This is stated on the website of the German federal government.

The German government noted that the cabinet has already approved the agreement, paving the way for its signing and further deepening of security cooperation between the two countries.

“In these difficult and turbulent times, the federal government is counting on reliable and cooperative partnerships,” the official statement notes.

The document confirms the integration of Germany’s and Poland’s defense policies within the framework of NATO and the EU, as well as mutual commitments to provide assistance in the event of external aggression in accordance with the provisions of the Alliance and EU treaties.

The agreement also provides for enhanced cooperation in the development of defense capabilities, joint exercises, and defense industry coordination. The parties will pay particular attention to the security of the Baltic region and countering hybrid threats.
