Kellogg On The Pause In Ukraine Talks: This Is Actually A Good Thing

According to him, Ukraine is holding its own against Russia.

Keith Kellogg, former special envoy to U.S. President Donald Trump, believes that the negotiation process between Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia is “effectively on hold” and, in his view, this is “a good thing.” He stated this in a comment "Suspilne", which was published on June 11.

He noted that U.S. negotiators—U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and White House chief of staff Jared Kushner—are currently focused on negotiations with Iran.

“You can’t be in two places at once. So it’s good that they’re working with Iran right now, and I think the negotiation process [on Ukraine] is effectively on hold. That’s not bad. It’s actually good,” Kellogg said.

The politician noted that the U.S. focus on the war against Iran “leaves Ukraine on its own to do its job.” He believes that “Ukraine is actually doing a good job against Russia.”

Also, in his opinion, the U.S. sanctions package against Russia “is not yet complete.” This was Kellogg’s response to a question about whether the U.S. is easing sanctions against Russia.

Commenting on the letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Vladimir Putin, Kellogg noted that he had not seen the document but considers the very fact that a dialogue has begun to be positive.
