Europe Sees It All: What Is Putin Up To On The Borders With NATO?

A Ukrainian political analyst analyzed the situation.

Russia is expanding its military infrastructure near the borders with the Baltic states and Northern European countries. According to experts, the enemy will be able to station about 115,000 troops there. But there is one caveat.

Political analyst Vladimir Fesenko told Channel 24 that Europe is well aware of the threat from Russia. A process of rearmament and increased defense spending is underway there. Perhaps it is not as fast as one would like, but it is happening.

What can Russia actually do in the North?

According to Fesenko, Russia is currently only developing military infrastructure that could potentially be used to station Russian troops there. But in the event of a full-scale war against Ukraine, they would still need to find those 100,000 troops somewhere. Right now, the enemy does not have such available units.

“They could mobilize these contingents if there is a mobilization in Russia. Or, if the war with Ukraine ends, then Russia will be able to redeploy such a number of troops to the border with European countries. Then the threats to the Baltic states will increase. There is also a border with Finland and Norway there,” Fesenko noted.

However, people in Europe are by no means naive. Countries bordering Russia are well aware of the threats posed by the Russian Federation. They are preparing for a possible conflict with Russia.

We should add that, according to media reports, Russia continues to develop its military infrastructure near the borders with European Union countries. New barracks, ammunition depots, and sites for military equipment are being built there. This is happening simultaneously in several border regions.
