Eighth-graders In Mogilev Were Sent To Military Training Camp

Nationwide, this requirement applies only to 10th-grade students.

Starting this year, mandatory 10-day field training camps have been introduced in Belarus for 10th-grade students. However, in Mogilev, officials decided not to stop there and sent eighth-graders from the Mogilev Regional Cadet School to the camp at the 188th Guards Engineer Brigade base in the village of Pashkovo, reports "Belsat".

“The goal of the training camp was to reinforce in practice the knowledge gained during the school year and to immerse the cadets in the atmosphere of real military service. The training camp program was as intensive as possible and included the main elements of combat training,” the school’s Instagram page states.

The field training camp for 10th graders took place in Belarus from May 26 to June 4. This year, they were extended to 10 days and made round-the-clock and mandatory—students who do not participate may not be promoted to 11th grade.

“In our opinion, the way children are being militarized and the form this takes could certainly be relevant to potential conflicts in the future, when young people could be enlisted into the relatively small Belarusian army,” said a BELPOL representative in a comment to “Belsat.”
