The fight will take place on Trump's 80th birthday.
An American court has authorized cage fights to be held near the White House to mark the 80th birthday of President Donald Trump, rejecting a motion filed by opponents of the event.
This was reported by "European Truth".
The court ruled that the plaintiffs had not sufficiently demonstrated why this event could cause them long-term harm, and that they had filed their objections too late.
The fights are scheduled to take place directly in front of the White House this Sunday, on Trump’s 80th birthday. A cage in the typical octagonal format has already been set up there, surrounded by spectator stands and covered by a giant dome.
The official reason is the celebration of the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, which falls on July 4.
The event is organized by the professional mixed martial arts (MMA) Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)—often a bloody sport that combines techniques from boxing, wrestling, kickboxing, karate, and jiu-jitsu, among others.
The planned cage fight has drawn widespread criticism. To prevent it, the Public Integrity Project filed a lawsuit in federal court earlier this month on behalf of two U.S. citizens.
The plaintiffs accuse Trump of granting UFC President Danny White and his company access to the White House and the Lincoln Memorial “to hold a private, for-profit sporting event with all the advertising and branding opportunities that such access provides.”
Trump has repeatedly attended UFC fights as a spectator and maintains a close relationship with league president White.
The arena’s stands can accommodate more than 4,000 spectators. According to court documents, more than 120,000 visitors are expected at the fan festival in Ellipse Park, located between the White House and the Washington Monument.
