He will be replaced by a Hungarian violinist.
In Budapest, thanks to the efforts of the Ukrainian Embassy, a performance by Russian violinist Vadim Repin scheduled for the opening of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra’s concert season was canceled.
This was reported by "European Truth".
As noted, instead of Repin, whose performance was supposed to be the highlight of the season opener, a Hungarian violinist took part in the concert.
“The Margitsziget Theater (Margitszigeti Színház) is one of the most prestigious summer theater venues in Hungary and Central and Eastern Europe. Located in the heart of Budapest on Margaret Island, it hosts more than 70 cultural events every summer as part of the summer festival, presenting opera, ballet, musicals, classical and contemporary music featuring leading Hungarian and international artists,” the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.
The statement also emphasizes that “Russian culture is a culture of genocide and war crimes, which should have no place on the international stage.”
“Ukrainian diplomacy will continue to work consistently to isolate representatives of the Russian cultural sphere in the global cultural industry,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry concluded.
