One of them features a "flying potato."

The Pentagon has released a new batch of declassified UFO documents. One of the reports describes a mysterious object over the state of Colorado that eyewitnesses compared to a giant "flying potato," writes The New York Times.

According to the documents, the unusual object was spotted in February 2022 over the Cheyenne Mountains near the city of Colorado Springs. It was observed by an Army intelligence officer and four U.S. service members.

Witnesses reported that the object was the size of a large airplane and resembled an “angular, asymmetrical potato” covered in uneven panels. It “hovered motionless at an altitude of about 90–150 meters above the mountain range, gradually changing shape and having a translucent white hue that reflected sunlight.” And after a while, it disappeared.

Later, one of the eyewitnesses described what he had seen in detail to FBI agents, after which a forensic artist prepared a sketch of the object, which indeed resembled a giant potato in the sky.

The FBI report also included new details about the incident. According to the witness’s testimony, the object was spotted around 11:25 a.m. He said it consisted of “fish-scale-like or irregularly shaped panels that did not overlap and were arranged asymmetrically.” The object itself remained “completely motionless,” but its surface seemed to shift: individual panels “moved in slow waves that began simultaneously in different places.”

The published materials also provide a possible explanation for what happened. According to experts, the object may have been an optical illusion caused by sunlight reflecting off snow-covered slopes and clouds. However, the conclusion noted that this theory has a “low degree of credibility.”

The newly released documents also include a report on another incident. In October 2023, six federal agents reported that over the course of two days, they observed “glowing spheres releasing other spheres” near a critical national security facility in the western United States. The Pentagon was unable to provide a definitive explanation for this phenomenon.
