The President of Ukraine believes that it will be difficult for the Kremlin leader to refuse.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he discussed with his American counterpart Donald Trump the possibility of a meeting with the aggressor country, Russia, in the United States.
During his address to the EU Intergovernmental Conference on Monday, June 15, Zelenskyy recalled that Ukraine had offered Russian dictator Putin to meet anywhere where real decisions could be made to end the war, but he does not want that.
Ukraine has also discussed with the U.S. and France the possibility of a meeting with Russia on the sidelines of the G7 summit with the participation of all democratic countries, but the dictator does not want that either.
“Yesterday we discussed with President Trump that such a meeting could be organized in the U.S. in a format where it would be much harder for Putin to refuse, at least to President Trump. We’ll see what comes of it. If Russia refuses this opportunity as well, additional pressure will be required,” he emphasized.
On June 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy published an open letter to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, in which he called for an end to the war “in a format between you and us” and proposed a personal meeting.
