In the summer of 2025, a Ukrainian boxer issued a harsh rebuke to the U.S. president.

On June 15, Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usyk posted a photo on Instagram, in which he is pictured in the Oval Office of the White House next to U.S. President Donald Trump.

Trump’s press secretary Margo Martin announced on June 12 that the Ukrainian boxer had met with the U.S. president.

“Thank you for the invitation, your hospitality, and the warm welcome. Sport truly unites people, fosters respect, and brings cultures closer together. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to meet and speak in person,” Usyk told Trump.

In the summer of 2025, as "Gordon", Usyk publicly addressed Trump, offering the White House chief a week to stay at his home in Ukraine to experience the realities of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

“I advise U.S. President Donald Trump to come to Ukraine and stay at my house for one week. Just one week. I’ll give him my house. Please live in Ukraine and witness what happens every night,” the boxer said.

Usyk then noted: he is not sure that such an experience would change the U.S. president’s attitude toward the war that the aggressor country, the Russian Federation, has unleashed against Ukraine.

“I don’t know. Maybe he’ll understand, maybe not. The Ukrainian people are dying. It’s not just the soldiers, but also children, women, grandmothers, and grandfathers. It’s hard for me. This is my country,” he added.
