The Kremlin leader received it following the attack on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
Following Russia’s strike on Kyiv and the shelling of the Christian holy site—the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra—Western media outlets ran headlines referring to Putin as the “Kremlin Antichrist.”
The reason was the damage to the 11th-century monastery, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A number of Western publications used this phrasing, including Britain’s News Channel, the Czech Seznam Zprávy, and The Independent.
The phrase “Kremlin Antichrist” was uttered by the head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epiphanius. He stated that the world needs decisive action to stop Russian terror against Ukraine and the principles of peace.
As a reminder, on the night of June 15, Russian troops launched a massive strike on Kyiv, using drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles.
As a result of the attack, 140,000 residents were left without power, and the Assumption Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was damaged.
The Dovzhenko National Film Studio was damaged, where Ukraine’s largest collection of costumes was destroyed by fire. Residential buildings and infrastructure facilities in ten districts of the Ukrainian capital were destroyed or damaged. According to the latest reports, 25 people were injured and 4 were killed.
