What will Kyiv get?
At a "Ramstein" format meeting, new military aid packages for Ukraine totaling approximately $4 billion were announced.
This was stated by Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov during a briefing.
He noted that many partners are ready to increase the volume of aid, as they have seen a “window of opportunity” after Ukraine was able to “achieve results in many areas of the war.”
“Today, what is likely one of the largest aid packages for PURL was announced. It amounts to $1 billion. Also announced today was an aid package for long-range artillery—that is, artillery with a range of 30+ kilometers.”,” the minister noted.
According to Fedorov, the Netherlands alone has announced aid that includes about 700 cruise missiles.
At the same time, the final amount of the aid packages is still being calculated, so the total volume of support may exceed $4 billion.
“It could be more. Because some countries have launched programs they had previously announced. We haven’t counted all those previous announcements,” he said.
The defense minister stated that Ukraine has three key priorities.
“These are the anti-ballistic program and the air defense program. “These are long-range artillery systems. And these are our drones—Ukrainian-made drones that are helping us today to stop the enemy, conduct ‘middle strike’ operations, and strike at enemy territory,” Fedorov explained.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that his country will continue to support Ukraine.
“Air defense remains our primary focus. We have delivered another IRIS-T system to Ukraine. Recently, we have also accelerated deliveries of IRIS-T SLS and SLM guided missiles. In addition, we will provide a three-digit number of air-to-air missiles from our own stockpiles,” he emphasized.
Pistorius added that Berlin will allocate $200 million to purchase additional PAC-3 missiles as part of the Jumpstart program.
“This means that we will co-finance the first tranche of deliveries. We want to take the lead in this process and encourage other partners,” he emphasized.
The German defense minister noted that his country is allocating an additional $200 million to the PURL program.
