The recruitment of Russian residents for the war against Ukraine is taking place in increasingly sophisticated ways - new ways of luring Russians to the front were pointed out by the "Verstka" in a publication on Tuesday, June 2. It found advertisements on the Russian service "Avito", which offer to sign a contract for service "in the rear of the Defense Ministry" in Belarus or China.

According to her calculations, in May 2026 - when the rate of recruitment of contract soldiers was falling - about 50 such "vacancies" from employers calling themselves "Military Valor," "Path to Victory," "Rubezh - Motherland SVO," "Service with Dignity," "Faithful Way" and "Army Way" were posted on Avito. All of them registered on this platform from March to December 2025, notes "Verstka".
They promise salaries of up to 260 thousand rubles, debt forgiveness and large "lifting"
In the ads, almost verbatim and in design repeating each other, looking for people of any citizenship, including "over 45 years old" and pensioners, "with health problems" (up to "temporarily unfit"), without experience and a military record, but with an expunged criminal record or probation. They are mainly offered to become security guards at "home front warehouses" in Belarus, employees of "ammunition production" in China, as well as assemblers, technicians and testers of UAVs.
The salary offered for such "work" ranges from 230 thousand to 260 thousand rubles per month. In addition, there are lump sum payments for "employment" - from 2.3 million to 3.1 million rubles, as well as 10 million rubles "lifting" without specifying details, debt forgiveness up to the same amount and "family benefits", writes "Verstka". The "employer" takes care of payment for travel "to the place of service," accommodation in barracks, food and equipment.
According to The Moscow Times, in the first quarter of 2026, about 70,000 and a half thousand Russians enlisted as contract soldiers and volunteers in the Russian army. The average daily enrollment rate fell to 800 people per day, the lowest since the first quarter of 2024. Compared to the same period of 2025, this figure has fallen by 20 percent, and relative to the last months of last year - by more than 40 percent.
