The U.S. And Iran Have Concluded High-level Talks In Switzerland

An action plan has been agreed upon with the aim of reaching a final agreement.
The first round of of talks between high-ranking representatives of the U.S. and Iran in Switzerland concluded on Monday, mediators reported—after a tense start marked by Tehran’s announcement that it would once again close the Strait of Hormuz and further threats by U.S. President Donald Trump to resume strikes against Iran.
In a joint statement published by the Qatari Foreign Ministry statement by the mediating countries—Qatar and Pakistan—it is stated that the U.S. and Iran have agreed on a roadmap aimed at reaching a final agreement within 60 days. Technical talks will continue through the end of the week at the Swiss mountain resort of Bürgenstock, which is owned by Qatar, the statement said.
The parties have agreed on a mechanism to cease hostilities in Lebanon and have established a communication channel to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, the statement said.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi wrote on social media that Tehran had secured concessions regarding the export of oil and petrochemical products, the unfreezing of some frozen assets, and the launch of a program for the country’s recovery and development. The White House did not immediately comment on whether the high-level talks had concluded at this point.
