Restrictions have begun to be imposed in new regions.
In many regions of Siberia, as well as throughout Russia, a shortage of automotive fuel has begun. Problems with gasoline and diesel are currently being observed in the Novosibirsk and Tyumen regions, according to Dialog.UA after analyzing social media.
In Novosibirsk, a limit has been imposed on gasoline sales—no more than 40 liters per person per receipt. In addition, filling jerry cans has been banned there. Local authorities believe this will help them resolve the fuel shortage.
Restrictions on fuel sales have also been introduced in the Tyumen Region. For example, in the city of Tobolsk, gasoline sales to individual drivers have been limited to no more than 40 liters per person, and for businesses—no more than 80 liters. Filling canisters is also prohibited.
Local drivers are in shock; they have apparently never faced a problem like this before. One motorist, upon seeing a notice at a gas station about restrictions on the sale of gasoline and diesel fuel, said that this is, “of course, scary.”
The gasoline and diesel fuel shortage in the Tyumen Region began almost simultaneously with the explosions at a local oil refinery (which has a refining capacity of 7.5 to 9 million metric tons per year). The explosions at the Tyumen Oil Refinery occurred on June 20. Local residents heard at least two explosions at the plant. The cause is unknown, but an air raid alert had previously been issued in the Tyumen region.
Problems with automotive fuel are currently being reported in most regions of Russia. These are linked to Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes on Russian oil refineries that supply fuel to the Russian Federation’s occupying army. In addition, the Kremlin is spending money from oil exports to continue the war against Ukraine. Because of all this, Russian oil refineries are legitimate targets for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
