He will become an advisor to Putin.

The “president” of Russian-occupied South Ossetia, Alan Gagloev, has resigned. He will become an advisor to Vladimir Putin.

“Effective today, I am transferring to the administration of the President of the Russian Federation and am stepping down from my duties as president of the Republic of South Ossetia,” Gagloev stated.

The chairman of the so-called government of South Ossetia, Marat Kambolov, will temporarily assume the duties of “president.”
Gagloev took office as head of South Ossetia in May 2022. In the election, he defeated Anatoly Bibilov, who at that time held the post of “president” of the so-called republic and had stated that after the election, South Ossetia would take “legal steps” to become part of Russia. After Gagloev took office, preparations for the corresponding referendum were halted.
