The facility in Dubna is the largest ground-based satellite communications complex in the Russian Federation.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported new confirmed results of the strike on the "Dubna" Space Communications Center in the Moscow Region, which was attacked on the night of June 22.
According to Ukrainian sources, further analysis confirmed that the strike hit the hardware-modular complex of the 32-meter MARK-IV antenna, used for satellite communications, as well as a technical building located next to it.
“Further analysis of the data has confirmed that the 32-meter MARK-IV antenna complex, used for satellite communications, as well as a technical building adjacent to this antenna, were struck,” the General Staff reported.
It has also been confirmed that the main production and administrative (hardware and software) building was hit. According to the agency, one of its walls was partially destroyed as a result of the strike.
“This building houses the central communications equipment room, ground control complex equipment, and the central control console for the satellite network,” the General Staff noted.
The Ukrainian military emphasized that the facility in Dubna is the largest ground-based satellite communications complex in Russia. It is used for military communications, controlling satellite transponders, and providing intelligence and troop coordination.
Earlier reports indicated that heavy smoke had filled the facility following the strike on the “Dubna” Space Communications Center. At that time, no official information regarding the extent of the damage had been released.
