Russian Ships Are On Fire In Kerch

The SBU has revealed details of the special operation.

The Ukrainian military carried out successful strikes on military supply ships located on the grounds of the “Zatoka” shipyard in temporarily occupied Kerch, as well as against enemy air defense systems in the Kerch Strait area. Details were reported by the SBU press center.

“Carrying out the tasks set by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as part of a 40-day operation targeting the Russian Federation, SBU ‘Alpha’ unit fighters carried out successful strikes against military support vessels located on the premises of the ‘Zatoka’ shipyard in temporarily occupied Kerch. Air defense systems of Russian forces in the Kerch Strait area were also targeted,” the statement reads.

During the special operation, SBU drones struck Project 15310 cable-laying vessels “Volga” and “Vyatka,” as well as the cargo-passenger ferry “Petropavlovsk,” which was 96% complete. The strikes caused a massive fire on board these vessels.

The security service noted that the “Volga” and “Vyatka” were built for the Russian Ministry of Defense. Their purpose is to deploy the “Harmony” hydroacoustic surveillance system for underwater military reconnaissance. In addition, they can deploy contactless mines to target ships, undersea pipelines, cables, and other critical infrastructure. Each of these vessels costs hundreds of millions of dollars.

Furthermore, SBU drones struck weapons and a radar station that were part of the S-400 air defense missile system, which was covering the Kerch Strait area.

“The SBU’s systematic efforts to strike Russian military infrastructure in the temporarily occupied Crimea deprive the enemy of the ability to use the peninsula as a logistical and military hub. The destruction of air defense systems paves the way for new high-precision strikes, while the neutralization of ships and port infrastructure undermines the occupiers’ ability to support their forces,” the SBU emphasized.
