Rescue workers have completed extinguishing a major fire that broke out last night in downtown Minsk.
The fire broke out in a building at 9 Lenin Street. The fire engulfed the roof and the attic. At its peak, the fire covered an area of more than 1,000 square meters—the roof trusses were burning.
Around 10:45 p.m., the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the fire had been contained, and it was fully extinguished by approximately 3:00 a.m. Twenty-seven pieces of equipment were deployed to fight the fire.
A crisis response team was on site. The building’s residents were temporarily relocated: some stayed with relatives and friends, while others were provided with accommodations in a dormitory.
