A New All-time June Temperature Record Has Been Set In Belarus

Now it belongs to Brest.

37.6 degrees marks a new all-time high for June in Belarus. This temperature was recorded in Brest on June 28.

The previous monthly high, which had stood for five years and five days, was surpassed by 0.5 degrees—the previous record was 37.1 degrees, recorded in Oktyabrsky on June 23, 2021.

The daily record was also broken—by as much as 3.3 degrees. The previous high was 34.3 degrees and was set in Lelchitsy on June 28, 2022.

According to a comparative analysis of real-time and archival data from Belhydromet conducted by “Pozirki” comparative analysis of real-time and archived data from Belhydromet, Brest became one of four settlements (along with Vysokoye, Pruzhany, and Ivatsevichi) where daily, monthly, and all-time instrumental weather observation records were broken on June 28. The all-time high in the regional capital was 36.7 degrees (August 9, 2015), the June record was 34.3 degrees (June 23, 2021), and the daily record was 33.3 degrees (June 28, 2022).

In the central regions of the country on June 28, temperatures hovered around 30 degrees (29.9 in Minsk), while in the east they ranged from 24 to 27 degrees. The lowest temperature was recorded in Gorki, Mogilev Region—23.5 degrees.

The day before, on June 27, weather stations across Belarus recorded ten local temperature records.
