The AFU Took Gorlovka Under Fire Control

  • 4.06.2026, 22:39

Why it's important and how it can affect the front end.

Ukrainian fighters have taken temporarily occupied Gorlovka in Donetsk region under fire control. Now the Russians and their transport are under regular strikes.

This is reported by Charter97.org with reference to Telegram of the 28th Independent Mechanized Brigade of the Knights of the Winter Campaign.

"Operators of the 28th Brigade's BBPS "Flash" are increasingly hitting logistics behind the Russians' lines. Trucks, cars, ATVs - everything that enters temporarily occupied Gorlovka is burned there," the report says.

The military note that the city itself is about 35-40 kilometers from the AFU positions. And while the enemy used to ride relatively quietly there, now its transport is under regular strikes.

Gorlovka is one of the largest cities in the Donetsk region, which has been under Russian occupation since 2014.

The city was captured by pro-Russian militants in the spring of that year during the start of the war in Donbass. Since then, Horlivka has become one of the key rear centers of Russian forces in the region.

After the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, the city has become an important logistical hub for the occupation army.

Through Horlivka, the Russians are moving equipment, ammunition and manpower to various front lines in Donetsk Region.

Analyst of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation Nazariy Barchuk told RBC-Ukraine that according to information directly from AFU units and the Defense Ministry, the Defense Forces have launched a campaign of middle-strike strikes on the temporarily occupied territories since May this year.

In particular, the successful results of this campaign include the establishment of fire control over such important logistical routes as those between Rostov and temporarily occupied Crimea, and statements also mention Luhansk region.

The establishment of fire control over Gorlovka can be attributed to the framework of this project.

"In particular, it is worth noting here that Gorlovka is an important transportation hub for the enemy on the Konstantinovsky direction. It is also used by the Russians to base their equipment and personnel in the city," the expert noted.

Correspondingly, according to him, the establishment of fire control over the city limits the enemy's logistical capabilities to supply ammunition, personnel equipment, directly to the front line and, in particular, Konstantinovka as a fortress in this area.

Gorlovka under control of AFU drones: why it is important and how it can affect the front

"If you look at the maps, you can see the highways from Svetlodaska to Bakhmut, as well as from Donetsk to Berestk, by which the enemy probably also organizes its logistics and supplies personnel and equipment in this direction," Barchuk added.

But if we are talking about these roads, they are also controlled by the Defense Forces. Perhaps not as critically as Gorlovka, but they are also under the attack of Ukrainian drones.

Correspondingly, as the expert noted, the enemy's logistics to Konstantinovka are severely hampered, which can cause delays in offensive actions and limit the enemy in every possible way.
