Ukraine is tightening the ring around the peninsula.
Ukraine attacked with a kamikaze drone a bridge near Chongar in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region, which served as an entrance to Crimea. As a result of the attack, the bridge bed was damaged, causing the occupiers to block the entrance route to the peninsula, reports OBOZ.UA.
The governor of Kherson region Vladimir Saldo said. According to him, traffic near the checkpoint "Dzhankoy" was blocked.
"For safety reasons, traffic through the checkpoint "Dzhankoy" is temporarily blocked. Vehicles are passing through the Armyansk and Perekop checkpoints," he said.
The AFU General Staff has not yet commented on the information.
The aftermath of the strike on Chongar
According to Radio.Liberty's special project "Crimea. Realities", the last time the Chongar bridge was attacked was on August 6, 2023. "Governor" of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov said of the missile strike, adding that there was "one hit, some of the missiles were shot down by air defense forces." The AFU, in turn, added that the strike was carried out by Storm Shadow missiles.
It is also reported that Vladimir Saldo restricted truck traffic toward Crimea, and the R-280 highway became an alternative to the Kerch bridge. The over 630-kilometer-long land corridor connects Rostov-on-Don with annexed Simferopol, passing through occupied Mariupol and Melitopol.
