Russia, on the other hand, has restricted imports.

The European Union market will be open for Armenian agricultural products without customs duties. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a briefing on the day of parliamentary elections on Sunday, June 7, writes Deutsche Welle.

He recalled that on June 4 he had a telephone conversation with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. According to Pashinyan, the head of the European Commission informed about the EU's readiness to provide Armenia with additional support, including financial assistance of over 50 million euros. These funds are expected to be directed to overcome the current difficulties related to the export of agricultural and other products.

Pashinyan emphasized that in addition to financial assistance, the EU intends to simplify the access of Armenian goods to the European market. In particular, it is about the introduction of free trade regime for Armenian agricultural products.

"Besides the urgent support in the amount of 50 million euros, intended to compensate for the artificially arisen problems in the sphere of export, Ursula von der Leyen announced another important news: Armenian agricultural products will be supplied to the EU countries without customs duties, i.e. within the framework of free trade regime," the Prime Minister noted.

Russia restricts imports of agricultural products from Armenia

Pashinyan separately touched upon the issue of difficulties with exports to Russia, emphasizing that Armenian producers have faced various restrictions and administrative barriers in recent months. According to him, the issue is both delays at the border and additional inspections, which complicate supplies and increase exporters' costs. In this context, the opening of the European market is considered by the government as an important alternative that can diversify export flows and reduce dependence on one sales direction.
