Pashinyan's Party Won The Election By A Wide Margin

(Updated) Armenia has chosen Europe.

The party of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan "Civic Contract" won 49.81% in the parliamentary elections, according to the results of 100% of the votes counted, the country’s Central Election Commission reports, citing preliminary data.

Samvel Karapetyan’s “Strong Armenia” party received 23.29%. In third place is the “Armenia” bloc led by former President Robert Kocharyan with 9.94%. Gagik Tsarukyan’s “Prosperous Armenia” party received 4% of the vote.

The electoral threshold for parties is 4%, and for blocs, 8%.

Thus, the opposition collectively received 37.23% of the vote.

Armenia’s CEC will release the final vote results later this week.

After 10% of the votes were counted, Pashinyan stated that his party, “Civic Contract,” would “form the government on its own” after winning the parliamentary elections.
