Zelensky Spoke By Phone With Whitcoff And Kushner

Trump's special envoys may soon arrive in Ukraine.

On Monday, June 8, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke by phone with envoys of U.S. President Donald TrumpSteve Whitcoff and Jared Kushner, reports journalist Barak Ravid, citing a source familiar with the situation.

The Office of the President confirmed to “Suspilne” that the conversation took place. No details are available yet.

On April 3, Volodymyr Zelenskyy invited the American delegation to come to Kyiv for talks at the technical working group level.

On April 14, the president announced that U.S. Special Envoy Steve Whitcoff and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner plan to visit Ukraine, and on May 8, Zelenskyy clarified that he expects their visit “at the turn of spring and summer.”

On May 7, National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov held a meeting in the U.S. with Donald Trump’s special representatives—Whitcoff and Kushner. On the same day, the Kremlin stated that trilateral talks would be pointless until Ukraine withdraws its troops from Donbas.

On May 20, Kirill Dmitriev, a special representative of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, announced an upcoming visit to Moscow by Steve Whitcoff, a special envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump, but did not provide any details.

In turn, on May 22, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga confirmed that the American delegation has an open invitation to visit Ukraine and emphasized that Kyiv “will always be happy to welcome it.”

Following trilateral meetings in early 2026, negotiations between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States were suspended due to the war in Iran.
