“Brick By Brick”: How Much Has The Kremlin Lost Due To EU Sanctions?

Kaja Kallas promised to inflict even greater losses on Russia.
The European Union is preparing new sanctions against 80 Russian organizations and individuals who support the war against Ukraine. The new restrictions are intended to increase financial pressure on the aggressor and exacerbate its economic losses.
This was reported by Al Jazeera.
The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas announced the expansion of the EU sanctions list against the Russian military-industrial complex and propagandists. According to her, the aggressor’s losses have already reached $1.5 trillion.
But Brussels will not stop there and plans to significantly expand the list of entities that will be targeted. Kallas made this statement in Cyprus following an informal meeting of the bloc’s defense ministers.
The new restrictions will apply to the following categories:
enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex;
individuals responsible for human rights violations;
Kremlin propagandists.
According to Kallas, the sanctions are working, as Putin is losing money, people, and momentum. This is precisely why Russia is intensifying its attacks on Ukrainian civilians.
“Brick by brick, we are dismantling the foundations of Russia’s war economy,” emphasized the head of EU diplomacy.
The number of sanctioned entities is constantly growing. Back in March, the bloc expanded restrictions to include 2,600 individuals and entities. Brussels’ policy remains unchanged: assets are frozen, and funding for the war machine is cut off.
Funding for weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and new approaches
At the ministerial meeting, the fate of the €6.6 billion fund was also discussed. This money is intended for military aid to Ukraine. Previously, it was used only to reimburse countries for the cost of weapons already delivered, but now Callas proposes using these funds to:
finance joint purchases of new weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces;
direct military aid from the European Union.
The EU is trying to act independently, as this is becoming critically important against the backdrop of the United States’ weakening position. Europe aims to ensure stable support for Kyiv and prevent Moscow from regaining its military advantage, Kallas stated.
