This is the next phase of a 40-day operation aimed at influencing the Russian Federation.

On the night of July 1, drones operated by the Security Service of Ukraine struck hangars housing Russian fighter jets at the Saki military airfield in occupied Crimea.

This was reported by the SBU press service.

“Carrying out the tasks set by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as part of a 40-day operation to exert influence on the Russian Federation, the SBU launched a successful strike on the ‘Saki’ military airfield in the temporarily occupied Crimea,” the statement reads.

The operation targeted the airfield’s infrastructure, including hangars housing fighter jets.

Five hits by SBU drones on the hangars where aircraft were stored have been confirmed.

According to preliminary information, Su-30 and Su-30SM fighter jets were present in two hangars at the time of the strike.

Following the attack, a fire was reported in the hangar where the Su-30SM was located, indicating that the target had been successfully destroyed.

It is noteworthy that the estimated cost of each such aircraft ranges from 30 to 50 million U.S. dollars, depending on the configuration.

40-day operation to influence Russia

As a reminder, on June 26, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Security Service is launching a 40-day operation to influence Russia to encourage an end to the war.

All SBU strikes since that day have been part of this large-scale operation.
