A passenger on a Ryanair flight from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Memmingen, Germany, was nearly sucked out of the plane after a window shattered during the flight. Other passengers had to pull him back into the cabin. This was reported on July 10 by The Daily Mail.

The incident occurred shortly after the Boeing 737-800 took off, when the plane was flying at an altitude of approximately 6 km. According to eyewitnesses, a loud noise resembling an explosion was heard on board, after which a window shattered near one of the passengers.

According to media reports, the head and shoulders of a 61-year-old Serbian citizen were pulled out of the plane. His wife held onto her husband’s legs for several minutes until other passengers helped pull him back into the plane.

After the cabin depressurized, oxygen masks automatically dropped down. The pilots decided to return immediately to Thessaloniki Airport. The plane landed safely about an hour after takeoff.

Ryanair confirmed that the flight returned due to a passenger window becoming dislodged during the flight. The passenger sought medical attention after landing, and the airline provided a replacement aircraft for the remaining passengers.

Greek media speculate that the incident may have been caused by a piece of debris that broke off from one of the engines and damaged the window, but this version of events has not yet been officially confirmed.
