The UAE stated that it may respond.

One sailor and eight other people were killed as a result of Iran’s missile strike on two UAE oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense reported this on Tuesday, July 14, according to Reuters.

According to the ministry, the tankers Mombasa and Al Bahiyah were attacked while traveling along the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz in Omani territorial waters. One crew member—an Indian citizen—was killed aboard the Mombasa.

Eight other sailors were injured, four of whom are in serious condition. Among the injured are six Indian citizens and two Ukrainian citizens.

The attack caused fires on both vessels, which were subsequently extinguished. The tankers also sustained material damage.

The UAE Ministry of Defense called the attack an “open aggression” and stated that the country reserves the right to respond to this escalation.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that it had attacked two “aggressor” vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
