The captain of one of them was killed.

The Russian Federation’s military struck foreign civilian merchant ships in the Black Sea and in the port of Odesa. This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration Oleg Kipper.

“This evening, the enemy launched another strike against the port infrastructure of the Odesa region. During the attack, an enemy UAV struck a civilian vessel flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, damaging the ship’s superstructure. A fire broke out on board.”

“Unfortunately, two people were killed as a result of the attack,” Kipper said.

He also noted that on June 14, two merchant ships—flying the flags of Tanzania and Liberia—were attacked in the Black Sea. The captain of one of the ships was killed, and three crew members were injured.

Oleg Kipper noted that by striking civilians and civilian infrastructure, Russia is violating international humanitarian law.
