He is suspected of committing three acts of disorderly conduct.
A man who attacked Aleksandra Herasimenia, a multiple world and European swimming champion and three-time Olympic medalist, has been detained in Warsaw.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Warsaw’s Ochota District has opened a case against Marcin N., who is suspected of committing three acts of hooliganism between July 10 and 11, 2026, at the PKS Warszawa Zachodnia bus station.
As a result of these actions, he assaulted several people, including Aleksandra Herasimenia.
A statement statement from the prosecutor’s office states that the arrested man, Marcin N., pleaded guilty and stated in his testimony that the victims “were his friends to whom he had lent money, and now they no longer recognize him.”
As the prosecutor’s office clarifies, the evidence gathered indicates that the suspect’s attack on Aleksandra Herasimenia was not related to her nationality. Investigators are currently determining whether there are other victims in this case and are also deciding on the need for a one-time forensic psychiatric evaluation of the suspect.
At this time, Marcin N. is being held in custody for a period of three months. He faces punishment under Articles 57 and 217 of the Polish Criminal Code—imprisonment for up to three years.
Regarding the attack on Aleksandra Herasimenia, was reported by the editor-in-chief of the website Charter97.org Natallia Radzina. The journalist reported that an unknown assailant attacked the Belarusian champion on July 10. He punched her in the head.
Later, Alexandra Gerasimenya confirmed the attack to the website Charter97.org:
— I never imagined that something like this could happen in Warsaw in broad daylight, in such a crowded place, and, I hope, in front of working security cameras. I don’t know what happened, but I hope the Polish authorities will investigate and that the perpetrator will be punished.
