The Ukrainian flag has been raised over the city once again.
Members of the Defense Forces conducted a sweep of the central part of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region. The Ukrainian national flag was raised over one of the city’s buildings.
This was reported on Saturday, July 18, by the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya,” which published a video on Telegram.
The footage shows Russian troops concentrating in the residential area of Kostiantynivka. Subsequently, the occupiers’ positions were attacked by Ukrainian drones. The regiment also released a video showing the defeat of Russian forces within the city limits.
The 425th Separate Assault Regiment stated that Ukrainian units had completed their combat mission and cleared the central part of the town.
“The 425th ‘Skelya’ Regiment has completed its combat mission. The Ukrainian city of Konstantinovka is once again flying the blue-and-yellow flag. We will continue our work until Ukraine is fully liberated. Glory to Ukraine!” said one of the soldiers in the regiment’s video.
The regiment emphasized that efforts to liberate Ukrainian territories are continuing.
On July 3, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin claimed that Konstantinovka had been captured, that the Luhansk region had been “liberated,” and that the occupying forces had made “significant advances” in the Donetsk region.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) refuted these claims and reported that the Russian presence in Konstantinovka is limited to small groups of saboteurs scattered among Ukrainian positions.
On July 4, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the “East” military group also refuted Putin’s statements. Ukrainian forces continue to defend Konstantinovka and are striking at enemy forces infiltrating the city.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the claims about the capture of Konstantinovka a lie.
“If Konstantinovka is now under Russian control, then Putin would likely have no problem meeting me there and finding diplomatic solutions to finally end the war. But he still won’t cross the front line: the truth is very different from Putin’s words,” Zelenskyy wrote on social media.
