Russians Are Rushing To Switch From Gasoline To Natural Gas, But Things Are Only Getting Worse

The price of the necessary equipment has already skyrocketed to a record high.

In Russia, against the backdrop of a worsening fuel crisis, demand for the installation of autogas systems (LPG) in cars has surged. However, Russians have faced several serious problems in this area as well.

This is reported by The Moscow Times.

Due to the gasoline shortage in Russia, LPG systems for cars are once again at the peak of their popularity. But manufacturers and auto repair shops are unable to keep up with the increased demand.

Russian media report that in June, the number of requests to convert cars to natural gas was 35% higher than in March and April.

Due to the rush, appointments for LPG system installations are already fully booked for the next three months, according to industry sources.

In addition, workshops that perform vehicle conversions are facing a shortage of the necessary equipment.

They are already complaining that suppliers were not prepared for the sharp rise in demand: inventories quickly ran out. Moreover, the cost of kits has nearly doubled.

The main manufacturer of natural gas equipment—the Novogrudok Gas Equipment Plant—is also unable to keep up with the large volume of orders.

Currently, Russians will have to pay between 53,000 and 90,000 rubles to have a “gas” system installed, excluding registration fees.
