An Unusual Case: A Syrian Man Tried To Travel From Poland To Belarus

  • 23.07.2026, 13:05

Video Fact.

Polish border guards detained a man who was attempting to cross the border in the opposite direction—not from Belarus to Poland, as is usually the case, but the other way around.

According to the Podlasie Department of the Polish Border Guard, the violator was spotted by surveillance cameras as he was heading toward the border fence with the clear intention of crossing over to the Belarusian side. The detention took place quickly.

According to the border service, he turned out to be a Syrian citizen with a residence permit in the Netherlands. According to him, the route was not easy: first a bus from Berlin to Warsaw, then on to Białystok, and from there by train to Kuznica Białostocka. The man stated that his final destination was Belarus.

It is not yet known what exactly prompted him to try to enter our country. It is worth noting the unusual nature of the situation itself: as a rule, illegal border crossings in this area are recorded in the opposite direction—from Belarus into Poland.
