The President Of Romania Sent A Delegation To The U.S. In Response To Incidents Involving Russian Drones

Romanian President Nicușor Dan has dispatched his national security adviser, Marius Lazurcu, and the Chief of the General Staff of Defense, General Vlad Georgicu, to the United States, where they, in particular, are to discuss incidents involving Russian drones with government officials.

In addition to incidents involving drones violating Romania’s airspace, the visit is also expected to include discussions on security in the Black Sea.

As noted, Romanian officials will raise these issues during meetings with representatives of Donald Trump’s administration and the U.S. Congress.

“These threats remind us how important our strong security partnership with the United States is and how grateful we are for it,” Advisor Marius Lazurka wrote Monday evening in a post on X.

As a reminder, on July 26 Romania shot down a drone from a fighter jet for the third day in a row after it violated its airspace.

Following a series of drone incursions into its territory, Romania announced its decision to recall its ambassador to Russia for consultations and to expel a Russian diplomat from the country.
