Karol Nawrocki Met With Garry Kasparov

Polish President Karol Nawrocki met today at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw with one of Russia’s most prominent pro-democracy figures, Garry Kasparov
“For many years, he has consistently opposed the regime of Vladimir Putin, which forced him to leave Russia,” the Polish President’s Office said.
“For more than a decade, Kasparov has been warning the West about the Kremlin’s imperialist ambitions. For many years, he has emphasized the threat of Russian aggression to Poland and the Baltic states. Since the start of the Russian Federation’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he has repeatedly stated that Poland plays a key role in strengthening European security,” the statement noted.

Garry Kasparov is considered one of the greatest chess players in history. In 1985, at the age of 22, he defeated Anatoly Karpov and became the youngest world champion at that time. He held the title of the world’s strongest chess player until 2000.
For many years, he also held the top spot in the world rankings. Kasparov ended his professional chess career in 2005, after which he became involved in politics and human rights advocacy.
