For the second time this week, fighter jet hangars at the Saki airfield were struck.

For the second time this week, the SBU struck the Saki military airfield in Crimea. Seven hangars housing Russian Su-30SM, Su-30, and Su-24 fighter jets and bombers were hit. This was reported by the SBU.

As part of a 40-day operation to put pressure on Russia, ordered by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian drones attacked the Saki and Gvardeyskoye airfields.

According to the SBU, seven hangars used to store aircraft were hit at the Saki airfield. They housed Su-30SM, Su-30, and Su-24 fighter jets and frontline bombers.

“According to preliminary information, at least seven aircraft were destroyed or damaged. This is already the second SBU strike on the Saki airfield this week,” the agency reported.

Attack on “Gvardeyskoye”

At the same time, a strike was carried out on the “Gvardeyskoye” airfield, where, according to the SBU, two hangars were hit. They housed “Shahed”-type drones as well as aviation equipment.

“The ‘Saki’ and ‘Gvardeyskoye’ military airfields are among the key aviation bases of the Russian occupation forces in Crimea. It is from there that tactical aircraft regularly take off to launch missile and bomb strikes on Ukrainian territory and support the operations of the Russian force in the southern sector,” the SBU explained.

SBU Statement

According to SBU Director Yevhen Khmara, such operations are aimed at systematically reducing Russia’s military capabilities. He stated that every special operation by Ukrainian security forces reduces the enemy’s ability to wage war.

“Each of our special operations means one less enemy aircraft, logistics facility, warehouse, piece of equipment, or piece of infrastructure supporting Russian aggression. We will continue to exert maximum pressure on the enemy both on the front lines and deep in the rear, depriving it of the ability to wage war against Ukraine,” Khmara emphasized.
