Lines At Russian Gas Stations Are Now Visible From Space

A satellite data expert reported this.

A line stretching for many kilometers at a gas station in the Zabaikalsky Krai was captured in an Airbus satellite image taken on the morning of July 3, according to satellite data expert Paul Brown (BBC Verify, BBC News | Russian Service). According to his analysis, the image shows a line of cars at a Rosneft gas station in the village of Atamanovka near Chita.

The day before, a video of this line—filmed on July 2—appeared online; it stretched for about 4.5 kilometers. According to estimates by “Medusa”, the number of cars waiting in line could reach 800.

The footage shows a Rosneft gas station that receives fuel from NNK’s Khabarovsk refinery—a facility that has not been targeted by Ukrainian attacks, notes “Meduza.” Authorities in the Zabaykalsky Krai declared a state of heightened readiness on June 25 due to a gasoline shortage affecting virtually the entire country.

To date, BBC Verify has confirmed the authenticity of videos showing lines at gas stations in 13 regions of Russia, including Moscow and the Moscow Region. In some regions, police, Cossacks, and veterans of the war in Ukraine have been called in to maintain order at gas stations, while in several regions, gasoline is now being distributed on a priority basis to officials and civil servants.

The shortage was caused by massive strikes by Ukrainian drones on oil refineries.
