"For The Real Estate Market, It Will Be Almost Like A Shot Of Adrenaline."

An expert announced "breaking news" for Belarusians.
Real estate market expert Nikolai Tukin told *Insider* that *Belarusbank* may introduce a loan in August for purchasing homes from developers at an annual interest rate of 1% for the first 24 months. "Zerkalo" asked the bank whether it would introduce such a new product.
“Great news for the real estate market. According to insider sources, “Belarusbank” will launch a new loan product in August, under which buyers of new-construction housing from developers will be able to obtain loans at 1% for the first two years. After that, as far as I understand, there will be a different rate—apparently 15%,” said Nikolai Tukin.
According to him, “this is a kind of partnership loan.”
“To be honest, the terms seem simply unbelievable. I never thought I’d live to see the day when anyone could walk into a bank and get a loan at 1%,” the analyst added. “This is, of course, very positive news. I think developers will quickly sell off all their unsold apartments. Although many of them probably won’t be able to resist and will start quietly raising prices.”
He believes that “for the real estate market, this will be almost like a shot of adrenaline.”
“The resale market, of course, may suffer. Some buyers will switch from the resale market to new construction. But, in my opinion, the new-construction market deserves this—it really does need to be saved. Things haven’t been going very well for developers lately,” noted Nikolai Tukin. “Do you think developers will raise prices or not?”
What (They Don’t) Say at the Bank
A “Zerkalo” journalist, posing as a customer, contacted “Belarusbank” to ask whether the bank really plans to introduce such a real estate loan.
“At this time, our call center has not received any such information,” replied a bank employee, advising the reporter to review the current mortgage offers on the financial institution’s website. The announced loan is not listed among them. One of the most attractive offers features an interest rate starting at 3.25% during the grace period, depending on the selected partner program.
