The Belarusian National Team Was Barred From The 2027 Ice Hockey World Championship

Belarusian youth will also miss the Planetary Forum.

The Belarusian and Russian national hockey teams have been barred from participating in the 2027 World Championship.

This was announced by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).

“At a recent meeting, the Council reviewed and discussed the assessment of each individual IIHF championship, taking into account issues of safety, security, and organizational feasibility regarding the participation of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation.

Based on the results of this review, the Council decided that Belarus will not be permitted to participate in the following IIHF championships during the 2026–2027 season due to ongoing security and safety concerns:

2027 Men’s World Hockey Championship
2027 World Junior Hockey Championship (U20).”
