Political Analyst: Trump Now Has His Own Special Envoy In Ukraine, Working On Par With The U.S. Embassy

Laura Lumer's visit to Ukraine played a positive role in the preparations for Zelenskyy's visit to the United States.
The arrival in Ukraine of MAGA blogger Laura Loomer and her extended stay here played an exceptionally positive role in preparing for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the U.S., and it will also provide ammunition for White House chief Donald Trump in potential disputes with “Ukraine skeptics.” This opinion was expressed on the air at Radio NV by political scientist and expert at the Ukrainian Prism think tank Alexander Kraev.
According to him, Trump’s policy is based on the fact that as long as a particular issue interests him, he will be actively involved in finding solutions. However, once he shifts his attention to something else, that issue may remain completely dormant for quite some time.
“From this perspective, Trump really needs to stay constantly up to date on events and remain at the epicenter of what’s happening in the information sphere,” Kraev noted. “And that’s why Laura Loomer’s extended stay in Ukraine is a huge plus. Essentially, Trump now has his own special correspondent in Ukraine, who, as we can see, has access to high-ranking officials, gathers information quite quickly, initiates contact on her own, and travels to dangerous areas. This special correspondent is now operating on the same level as the U.S. Embassy.”
According to the expert, Ukraine benefited from Lumer’s visit, as it served as the “briefing” needed ahead of Zelenskyy’s trip to Senator Lindsey Graham’s funeral, where he met with Trump. Right now, “absolutely nothing” is done within the U.S. government without the president’s say-so, Kraev believes.
“It seems to me that Lumer is playing right into our hands here. She’s playing into her own hands, since her audience is only growing. She’s playing into the hands of the American MAGA movement, which is receiving information it otherwise simply wouldn’t have learned. And, above all, she is playing into Trump’s hands by explaining why he is taking certain steps and providing the context that ensures the arms transfer, our continued political cooperation, and the establishment of a normal framework for negotiations will not be perceived by Ukraine skeptics in the U.S. as something sudden and completely incomprehensible,” he said.
On July 20, Laura Lumer, previously known for her far-right views and for spreading Russian narratives, posted a video on X of her arrival in Kyiv and captioned it: “I’m not in Russia because I’m not a propagandist.”
Lumer also publicly admitted that for years she had been under the influence of Russian propaganda regarding the war in Ukraine.
According to the blogger, she decided to come to Ukraine to personally verify the claims she had heard previously.
On July 23, Laura Lumer interviewed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The meeting took place at the Mariinsky Palace.
